3 reasons why its totally worth it to trust in God

A  several years ago I had the opportunity to go to Panama for one of my first missions trips. I was there visiting with a wonderful missionary family that I had taken one other Panama trip with. Looking back though, I cant believe they were willing to take on a seventeen year old for a month! But they did! And Ill never forget some of the experiences we had while I was there. We held kids crusades, endured tropical rainstormes, and hiked for miles to arrive at one of our locations. I had been nervous about how I would do being gone for a month. And I wondered how I would be able to get the money together, but God worked it all out and I was able to go. It was an amazing thing to be able to be a part of.

I remember one time in particular as we walked through the mountains being struck by the beauty of Gods creation. What an amazing thing that God had ceated everything around me. Softly I started songing the song “How Great Thou Art.” In english. A few of the native nobebu indians near me started singing too, in their native tongue.

We had very little in common. We couldnt even talk to each other. But we were united by our awe of God. the creator of heaven and earth

Today I want to give you 3 reasons why it is totally worth it to trust God

  1. God is good

The simple truth is that God is good! His nature is good. Intrensic to his nature is love, mercy, grace, righteousness, justice, holiness. He is a God of Power and knowledge with no limit.

And He goes on and on. His love never ends, His judgements are never biased, and His power never weakens even a little.

“An infinite God can give all of Himself to each of His children. He does not distribute Himself that each may have a part but to each one he gives all of Himself as fully as if there were no others.” A.W. Tozer

Here are a few verses that give us just a little picture of what God is like.

      – God is All powerful

Matthew 8:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

Isaiah 40:8 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.”

     – He is All knowing and ever present

Psalm 139:1- 1O Lord, thou hast searched me, and known me.

2Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thought afar off.

3Thou compassest my path and my lying down, and art acquainted with all my ways.

4For there is not a word in my tongue, but, lo, O Lord, thou knowest it altogether.

5Thou hast beset me behind and before, and laid thine hand upon me.

6Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.

7Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

8If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there.

9If I take the wings of the morning, and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea;

10Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me.

      – Gods mercy endures forever

Psalm 106:1 Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever

     – God Loves us

Romans 5:8  But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

     – He is the truth

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

     – He is Holy

Revelation 4:8 And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come

     – God never changes

God is good! And His nature doesnt change. Malaci 3:66 For I am the LORD, I change not” We arent going to wake up one morning and find out that God has stopped being loving or Holy. We arent going to have some new revelation that what He expects of his children has changed (even though some people might like that.) He is today what He was before the dawn of time. He will be a million years into eternity the same as He is today. God does not change. And He is good.

His skill is good

A few months ago my husband and I visited carlsbad caverens with his parents. It was probably one of the most amazing things Ive ever seen! It ranks somewhere close to the Niagra Falls or the the Grand Canyon in my opinion. It was like going through an art gallery with one skillful display of beauty after another. God created the heavens and the earth. He formed with the precision of a skilled craftsmen the water and the land. He set the rotation of the eath and measured out the pull of the moon against the ocean. He created every part of every eco system in all of their delicate balance. This whole world spins at arond 1000 miles per hour. And if it spun just a little bit faster, or a little bit slower everything would be knocked completely on its head. And as the earth spins around the sun, and the moon rotates around the earth; He finely creates the tiny fingers and toes of a child in its mothers womb.  He crafts the eye, the most sophisticated lens ever known to mankind, And he makes the heart work at a constant unwavering beat. It is all done perfectly.

1The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein. 2For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods. Psalm 24:1-2

I cannot imagin a God so big or a God so spicific or someone so skilled! That he could do all that, and be all that. And still he knows me and loves me just the same. He is my God! My father! And I am His child! What an amazing reality for every Christian.

God has a plan

When I begin to think of the reality of who God is, He amazes me. He motivates me to worship him and live my life completely for Him. While thinking about who God is, came across this verse a few days ago and was reminded why it is that we can trust God with every little part of our lives. Big or small, major catastrophes or minor ailments.  Its found in  1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.

In other words you cant even begin to imagine all of the wonderful things that God wants to do in your life, if you’ll just love Him and live for Him!

The reason we can trust Him is because He is God. He is good. And He is good at being God! He’s got everything under control and He has a plan for your life. You arent just a blip on the radar screen of history, but God is systematically bringing to pass his perfect plan for your life.  Now I do beleive that we can mess things up by going our own way, being disobediant and refusing to follow where He leads. But when we surrender to God and commit to following His will for us, He will take our worst failures and mistakes and heal them in such a way that it brings glory to Himself. That is the beauty of redemption.

This next passage of scripture is, to me one of the most beautiful in the Bible but i think it prefectly encapsulates what we are looking at today.

Isaiah 55:6-13

Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:

Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

10 For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands

Let God have His way in your life. Surrender to Him in every thing and he will be faithful every time. Im still pretty young and I dont know a whole lot, but even in my life I know that God has been faithful time, and time again. And God doesnt change, so I know his faithfulness will never end.
